Piano

Eli taught Braxton "Jolly Old St. Nicholas". He memorized it after Eli played it for him just a few times.

"Make me Smile"

October 13, 2009: Braxton spills water when filling up his cup at the fridge. He says, discouraged, "Freak." Mom surprised, says, "Who says that?" Braxton says, "People who say mean things and I say mean things." "Oh?" says Mom.

September 24, 2009: Braxton says, "Mom, you should have got a dog when you didn't have a Dad." He refers to Brandon as my Dad.

September 23, 2009: I told the boys to go get in jammies with Dad then I would be up to give them hugs and kisses. B said to C with a smile before he went up, "I want you to give me hugs and kisses in bed." When Eli and I were left alone in the kitchen, he inquired, "Did Dad mean SEX?" Yes, he and Brandon had had the talk and he knows it is an open topic with Mom and Dad, I was just surprised he wondered if that was what Brandon was referring to.

August 18, 2009: I'm tucking Braxton in bed at 10:30 p.m. (the boys had a movie night while I was at yoga). Braxton, the king of procrastinating bed time who says he doesn't know how to go to sleep, whispers, "Mom, why did The Emperor cross the road?" (He had been playing Star Wars on GameCube earlier today.) I asked him, "Why, Braxton?" and he said, "Because all the little Emperors were on the other side". It was a classic joke from a 4 year-old who doesn't "know how to go to sleep". Surely he meant to say all the little Emperors were on the "dark side", right!?

March 1, 2009: Easton's Primary teacher asked him questions for his "spotlight" in Primary. Under the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?", Easton said, "a regular Dad".

February 17, 2009: We are at the Blue and Gold Banquet, waiting in line for our dinner. Braxton has been observing all the people from his, 2 1/2 foot high perspective. He looks up at me and said in a whiney, discouraged tone, "We just really need to get a baby!" I asked him, "Hmm, why do we need to get a baby?" and he replied, "Because they're soooo cute!"
